Greetings Alan, Could not go down the antenna farm now for weeks, the Radar is wiping me out on the 75m window. I have made a formal complaint to the WIA today to try and have this stopped permanently. I would like you and your 75m friends also to do the same, lobby it as it will not go away. If it keeps up Alan I will give the antenna farm away and sell it all off. Mal. VK6LC

Hi Glenn and Peter. The silence at the top end of 80 metres has only very been brief. The OHR has returned with a vengeance about 24/09/06, now running apparently 24 hours a day, only with lack of propagation during day light hours causing it not to be heard. It is stronger than before, similar bandwidth, with deeper modulation, making communication impossible. It is being heard in many parts of the world and being heard in America at 5/9 plus at times. Here for me, it peaks at 5/9 plus 20db several hours after my sunset. In the letter I received from Senator Helen Coonan, in regards to the previous occurrence of the OHR, I took the liberty in contacting Peter Marshall at the ACMA in regards to the re-occurrence of it, as I was invited to do so in the attached Ministerial letter. The reason for me sending an email to John Howard, our Prime Minister, shortly prior to his signing the uranium export agreement with China, was to pressure the Chinese Administration to remove the harmful interference from the 80 metre band. The end response with pressure from several directions was positive, although temporarily with regard to the previous OHR intrusion. Peter (ACMA) has asked me to lodge a report with Glenn (WIA Intruder Watch) to make it official, as it was mentioned during the phone call from him today, there has been NO REPORT so far from the WIA Intruder Watch as to the re-occurrence of this major problem. Within this is my report and complaint to ACMA and Intruder Watch and the attatched the correspondence, sent to me from our Government. I seek that WIA Intruder Watch lodge an IMMEDIATE report, as the "powers that be" can not respond until the Intruder Watch report / complaint is submitted. The "harmful" QRN is very broad band, occupying the complete section between 3.770mhz and 3.830mhz. . At my location using a 2 wavelength long horizontal delta loop antenna, the following are the times and signal strengths, as to the build up to its peak . Once a peak is reached, it is maintained until after my sunrise.
The QRM at its peak occupies the TOTAL band between 3.770mhz to 3.830mhz 0930 UTC Strength 7 1000 UTC Strength 9 1030 UTC Strength 9 + 10db 1100 UTC Strength 9 + 15db 1130 UTC Strength 9 + 20db. 1130 UTC, until soon after sunrise the peak is maintained
I hope a permanent diplomatic solution can still be found. Assuming that the harmful interference is still emanating from Hainan Island or somewhere in China, it appears there is a translation problem between PERMANENTLY and TEMPORARILY. I am sure they would understand the translation between SWITCH and BOMB.
I shall be forwarding the content of this email to all those in the "loop", with protection to the email address Glenn and Peter, to those who have an interest in this major problem.
I ask you Glenn and Peter to keep me informed of the progress of the investigation and where it is at, so I can keep all in the "loop" informed. There was no single voice to keep 75/80m dx operators informed in the past, so I volunteered then, as I do now.
So, Glenn ( WIA Intruder Watch) and Peter (ACMA), your feedback shall be appreciated by very many Amateur Radio Operators World wide who can not use, or severly affected by this QRM in the 75/80m Dx window. As at least I can keep them informed during their total frustration. At least they will know that steps are being taken to remove this OHR from our 75/80m Dx window.
Regards, Jim..VK5ZSA....

Greetings from VE7-land. The radar is horrendous from this side as well. Some mornings it takes out a big portion of the 75/80m band and lately it has shown up at the low end of 40m. Click this link to listen to the noise from our side on October 01, 2006 on 3.795MHz

Good morning all.... I have now started a process for documenting the OHR noise. Here is my audio recording from 40m this morning. All recordings will have a standard file name: OHR+ date, frequency, mycall, time and signal strength. The OHR on 40m this morning was audible from 7030 to 7090 at S5 out of the W from my location in CN88fq 73 de Paul, VE7BZ
